I did not think that this album would be released. It's been a journey of imperfect memories and fever dreams, or maybe they were fever nightmares? The album was conceptualized and recorded with my friends and de facto family. They encouraged the strangeness of it all and that isn't an easy thing to do when you pitch a "Psychedelic record with acoustic instruments that is somewhere in-between Winnie the Pooh and Tom Waits".
The benefit of having an album released 7 years after you record it is that you get to listen to the voice and mental state of a person who no longer exists. The anger and sadness and wonder and naïveté of the person who wrote the songs on this album have precipitated a metamorphosis, and now I listen to the music with the fascination of someone studying an infestation of bugs. Why the hell are they doing that? What are they thinking?! But I was that person, and I've learned a lot about songwriting, and love, and friendship, and cynicism since. I don't know if it's made me a better person, but I hope so.
